Detailing Training Academy: What You Learn, What You Get, and How to Book

The Detailing Scotland Training Academy offers 1-to-1 hands-on detailing courses for anyone who wants to learn professional automotive detailing — from complete beginners to working detailers looking to sharpen their skills and gain formal recognition. This page answers the questions we are most frequently asked about the training.

Who is the training for?

Our courses are designed for two groups. First, people who are completely new to detailing and want to learn a skill they can use professionally — whether that is starting their own mobile detailing business, working for a detailing studio, or simply being able to properly care for their own and family members' vehicles. Second, working detailers who want to raise their skill level, learn paint correction and ceramic coating application to a professional standard, and be trained directly by a FEYNLAB Certified Installer.

What is included in the training?

Every course covers the full detailing process end-to-end, working on real client vehicles throughout. Training is entirely hands-on — not classroom-based theory. Topics covered include:

• Safe wash and rinse techniques to avoid inflicting swirl marks during cleaning

• Full decontamination process: fallout remover, tar remover, clay bar treatment

• Machine polishing — single and multi-stage paint correction

• Ceramic coating application — correct preparation, panel wipe, and application technique

• Test panel work to develop accuracy and confidence before working on client vehicles

• Real-world full details on actual vehicles from booking-in to handover

• Business guidance — how to price your work, find clients, and present yourself professionally

Course options and pricing

We offer two course lengths, both 1-to-1 with Eric throughout:

• 1-week course — £895. Covers the core skills: safe wash, decontamination, machine polishing, and ceramic coating application.

• 2-week course — £1,445. Everything in the 1-week course plus extended time on paint correction, more vehicle variety, and a deeper dive into business setup.

A non-refundable deposit of £100 to £195 is required at the time of booking to secure your place. The deposit is deducted from the full course fee.

What certificate do you receive?

Every student who completes a course receives a certificate of completion from Detailing Scotland. The training is delivered by Eric, a FEYNLAB Certified Installer accredited to the highest tier, with 24 years of professional detailing experience. The certificate demonstrates that you have been trained in a professional studio environment to the same standard applied to real client vehicles every day — and that you have worked hands-on with the professional-grade FEYNLAB products used by top detailers across the UK.

While this is not a government-regulated qualification, it carries real professional credibility in the detailing industry and demonstrates a level of training that separates you from self-taught detailers. Many of our graduates have gone on to start their own detailing businesses or secure employment at detailing studios.
